Yusufi Vali is the Director of the Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement at the City of Boston. Since being appointed in July 2019, he has partnered with City departments, foundations, and community partners to raise over $4 million dollars for basic needs assistance for immigrants impacted by COVID-19. He also led his team to launch a pilot fellowship program for Dreamers, a city academy for immigrants (Immigrants Lead Boston), and a bi-weekly COVID-19 resource webinar to connect immigrant-serving organizations and their constituents to critical services.
Prior to this role, from 2012-2019 Yusufi served as Executive Director of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC), the largest mosque in New England. From 2009-2012, he was a community organizer with the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization, working on issues of education equity and health care access. He also was a field organizer on President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. Yusufi is a Fulbright Scholar, a Marshall Scholar, and a Barr Fellow.
