Robbie Adams

Learning and Development Coordinator

Robbie Adams was raised in Hawai’i and was first introduced to Massachusetts during her time as an undergraduate student at UMass Amherst, where she earned a BA in Social Thought and Political Economy.  She was later awarded a fellowship from the East-West Center in Honolulu to participate in the Asia Pacific Leadership Program, which allowed her to study issues affecting displaced persons in Southeast Asia.  She continued studying about displaced persons at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where she received a master's degree in Peace & Conflict Studies with the help of a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship.  Robbie went to Bosnia & Herzegovina to interview internally displaced persons for her master’s thesis and in 2016, she volunteered at a refugee camp in northern Greece. After learning about the plight of refugees and asylum seekers for so many years, Robbie had an opportunity to work with this population as project manager at the Boston Center for Refugee Health & Human Rights (BCRHHR) at Boston Medical Center.  After five years in that role, Robbie shifted to public service work as the Learning and Development Coordinator at the City of Boston’s Office of Language and Communications Access.  In this role, she provides City departments with resources, training and guidance to ensure accessibility of services to all constituents, regardless of their communication related needs.
