Healthcare providers and clinical laboratories in Boston must report the following to the BPHC:
- all suspected or diagnosed communicable disease cases
- specimens that test positive for certain communicable diseases
- animal bites
Infectious disease research labs that work with specified high risk agents are required to report all illness, exposure or absenteeism among staff members.
Cases of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (disease or latent infection) should be reported directly to Massachusetts Department of Public Health here.
