How to Celebrate National Poetry Month in Boston

April is National Poetry Month, and there are many ways you can celebrate!

Happy National Poetry Month! Every year, the City of Boston looks forward to bringing people together to celebrate and recognize the power of poetry. We have several ways you can get involved this month, and you can learn more on our Poetry Month page.

There will be plenty of opportunities to write your own poetry, and we encourage you to check out our Instagram page for daily writing prompts from Poet Laureate Porsha Olayiwola! We'll be posting one a day with a poem, and hope you'll share your own work with us! We also have a call for poetry through the annual Mayor's Poetry Program. You might see your poem displayed in City Hall. In addition to sharing your own poems, there are events and workshops happening throughout the month, so there are plenty of ways to appreciate local poets!
